Oct. 19, 2024 – The North Central College women's soccer team hosted Carthage College Firebirds at
Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium dashing their hopes in a 2-0 fashion in the second half to earn their fourth consecutive victory.
North Central (12-4, 4-1 CCIW) led the offensive possession in the first half taking their first shot on goal just over a minute in from
Jordan Lange. A continued effort from the Cardinal offense saw the team shoot seven times before the first Carthage (5-5-4, 1-4 CCIW) shot in the 27th minute from Amelia Price.
Ainsly Stallworth continued to stem the North Central pressure fending off another two shots on goal in the 37th and 39th minute from
Erin Jaskierski and
Kassandra Salviola. The final shot attempt came from Lisa Traxel which
Olivia Mattison covered up in the final two minutes to go scoreless into halftime.
Entering the second half, the Cardinals got rolling quickly as
Elle Sutter broke away two minutes in to assist Lange to the first goal of the game. North Central continued to dominate possession time as they continued to fire seven shots over the next nine minutes. In the same time period, Carthage only mustered one shot off target.
Over the next twenty-seven minutes of regulation, the Cardinals fired nine shots at Stallworth forcing two more saves. In the 83rd minute, another gap appeared on the Firebird defense for
Carly Campbell and
Gabriella Galvez to each tally an assist to Sutter to break open the score 2-0. As the clock continued to tick down, Carthage would not find another shot attempt with only Sutter forcing another save from Stallworth.
The Cardinals earned their fourth consecutive victory and eighth straight home victory in the season. In total, North Central eclipsed the Carthage shooting attempts 30-4. On defense, Mattison earned a singular save through ninety minutes of action.
