BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Oct. 26, 2024) – The North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to compete in the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational, falling in last place of both sides of the endeavor.
On the men's side,
Mihir Chandra, Laurin Griffin, and
Casey Bretz took a third-place finish in the 300-yard butterfly with a second-place time of 2:45.64. After that, Chandra, Bretz, and
Jack Newman combined for a third-place best of 2:59.42 in the 300-yard medley relay.
Griffin Laurin also claimed a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.13) and a fourth-place position in the 500-yard freestyle (5.23.29). The men also took a 16th and 17th position in the 100-yard freestyle between
Julius Markowski (55.60) and
Jack Newman (55.70). The men also claimed a second-place position from Laurin with a 2:09.13 in the 200-yard butterfly.
On the women's end,
Raia Uvakova led the team with a ninth-place position in the 100-yard freestyle of 59.44. The women were also led in the 100-yard butterfly by
Celina McDaniel (2:39.35) and
Amelia Minarik (2:45.37) in third and fourth place respectively between the two for the 200-yard butterfly.
