2024 Women's Basketball All-CCIW Selections
Feb. 19, 2024 - Elle Sutter and
Jocelyn Trotter of the North Central College women's basketball team have been named All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin selections for their performance this season. Sutter earned First Team All-CCIW honors while Trotter has been named the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year and a second team honoree.
Sutter, who is now a two-time First Team All-CCIW selection, finished 10th in the conference for scoring (14.8 points per game) while ranking second in rebounds (8.6), steals (2.7), and blocks (1.1) in CCIW games. She also posted four double-doubles against league competition. In 2021, Sutter became the first player in CCIW history to earn First Team All-CCIW honors in two sports in the same academic year (women's soccer). Sutter has now accomplished that feat again with First Team All-CCIW selections in both sports.
Trotter earned a Second Team All-CCIW selection by finishing the conference slate in 11th place for scoring (14.7 points per game), the most by any freshman in the CCIW. She also ranked tied for fourth in rebounding with 7.6 per contest. Trotter's .554 field goal percentage tied for third-best in league play. Her 1.0 steals per game also was tied for fourth-best in the conference. In total, Trotter notched five double-doubles in conference play. Her 32-point performance against Elmhurst tied for the fifth-highest scoring output for a player in CCIW action.
The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is senior forward Megan McClure.
The Cardinals earned the No. 4 seed as a team in the upcoming CCIW Tournament with a 7-9 CCIW record. This marks the first time in program history that the Cardinals will host a CCIW Tournament game. Tip-off against Augustana College is set for 5 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
