ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 10, 2024) - Setting the program record for most career wins in doubles play, Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez posted his 71st win in the North Central College men's tennis 9-0 victory over Transylvania University at Sanlando Park on Sunday.

Gonzalez Fernandez teamed up with Wyatt Crowell to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-2 before toe duos of Ramon Vilarroig Martinez/Matthew Sengphommachanh (No. 2) and Daniel Estanislao/Rafael Lessa (No. 3) each earned 8-4 wins.

Already ahead 3-0, Crowell and Henry Ros cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins while Vilarroig Martinez claimed a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1. Lessa put together a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 while Justin Penados won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) over Arjun Gupta at No. 2. Securing the sweep was Ned Curley at No. 6 with a tight 7-5, 2-6, 11-9 battle.

The Cardinals take on Haverford College (11:30 a.m. (ET)) and the University of Wisconsin-Superior (6 p.m. (ET)) tomorrow in Orlando. The match against the Yellow Jackets will be livestreamed at the USTA National Campus.
