Jump Collects 200th Career Win, Cardinals Sweep Day

ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2024) - Adding two wins to their season total, the North Central College men's tennis team picked up impressive wins over Haverford College (6-3) and the University of Wisconsin-Superior (9-0) on day two of their spring break trip. Head coach Ryan Jump won his 200th career match between the men's and women's programs.

Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez and Wyatt Crowell picked up their 10th win of the season as a duo with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The tandems of Matthew Sengphommachanh/Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Daniel Estanislao/Rafael Lessafinished off the doubles sweep with 8-6 victories.

In singles play, Vilarroig Martinez won his match at No. 1 before Crowell clinched the team win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Lessa claimed a 6-1, 7-5 win in the No. 5 fixture to give North Central a 6-3 win over Haverford.

Again, the Cardinals swept doubles play as Jump kept the same doubles lineup in their second match of the day. Sengphommachanh claimed the first win in singles play, followed by Vilarroig Martinez to clinch the match. Lessa, Henry Ros, Crowell, and Matthew Crossland each earned wins to finish the 9-0 sweep over the Yellow Jackets.

After an off day on Tuesday, the Cardinals close out their spring break trip with matches against Trinity College (Conn.) at 12:30 p.m. and NCAA DI Lafayette College at 6 p.m. (ET).
