Mar. 23, 2024 - Hosting two non-conference matches inside Naperville Tennis Club, the North Central College women's tennis team defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 7-2 before beating Greenville University 8-1 on Saturday.
In their first match of the day, Nina Patience and Kate Herlihy claimed the first Cardinal victory with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles before Eva Zaskowski and Meghan McSweeney put North Central ahead, 2-1, with a tight 8-7 win at No. 3 doubles.
Herlihy won the first singles match of the contest with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4. Patience (No. 2) and Zaskowski (No. 5) clinched the match with wins at their respective positions. M. McSweeney and Kayla McSweeny each recorded wins to give North Central a 7-2 win over the Falcons.
Edquiban and K. McSweeney won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles with Patience and Herlihy capturing an 8-3 win in the No.. 2 spot. Completing the sweep was Zaskowski and M. McSweeney with an 8-1 win at No. 3. Patience, K. McSweeney, Herlihy, Zaskowski, and M. McSweeney all won in straight sets at No. 1-No. 5 to give the Cardinals an 8-1 victory.
North Central visits the No. 2 University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals and Maroons begin at 1 p.m. inside XS Tennis in Chicago.
