WHEATON, Ill (Apr. 24, 2024) - Finishing the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin schedule undefeated for the second time in school history, the North Central College men's tennis team beat Wheaton College 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Wyatt Crowell and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez claimed the first victory of the day with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Following an 8-6 win from Daniel Estanislao and Rafael Lessa, Matthew Sengphommachanh and Ramon Vilarroig Martinez battled to an 8-7 (9-7) win at No. 2 doubles to finish off the sweep.

Vilarroig Martinez used a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 to win the first singles match. Clinching the match, Crowell won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 4 over Cody Ching. Lessa, Justin Penados, and Gonzalez Fernandez each fought to win in tiebreaker sets to give North Central an 8-1 win over Wheaton.

The Cardinals have earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament, beginning on May 2. Carroll University is serving as the host institution for the three-day event.
