BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Apr. 25, 2024) - Playing as the top seed in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament, the North Central College women's tennis team made quick work of Illinois Wesleyan University on Thursday morning with a 5-0 win over the Titans.

Mikayla Edquiban and Kayla McSweeney captured an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles before Kate Herlihy and Kensington Payne won 8-2 in the No. 2 fixture. Completing the doubles sweep was Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett with an 8-2 win at No. 1

Herlihy claimed the first singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Macy Michorczyk at No. 5. Clinching the Cardinal win was Payne with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kate Christian in the No. 3 slot. Penados, Bassett, Edquiban, and McSweeney each won a set against their Titan counterpart before the match was clinched.

North Central will face the winner of No. 4 Carthage College and No. 5 Augustana College in the semifinals tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club.
