MADISON, Wis. (Apr. 6, 2024) - Capping off the Midwest Invite, the No. 37 North Central College women's tennis team earned two 6-3 victories over No. 32 Hope College and No. 38 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett won 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles position before Mikayla Edquiban and Kayla McSweeney earned an 8-5 victory at No. 3. COmpleting the doubles sweep, Kensington Payne and Kate Herlihy battled to an 8-7 (7-5) win at No. 2.

Penados rolled to a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 while Bassett picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 2 fixture. Nina Patience cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 as the Cardinals claimed a 6-3 victory over Hope.
In their final match, the Cardinals took two of the three doubles matches against the Warhawks as Penados/Bassett won 8-5 and Payne/Herlihy won 8-3. Clinching the team victory with straight-set wins were Penados (6-3, 6-4), Bassett (7-6 (8-6), 6-3), Payne (6-3, 6-2), and McSweeney (7-5, 7-5).

North Central hosts UW-Whitewater on Sunday, April 14 for senior day. The Cardinals and Warhawks rematch is set to begin at 12 p.m. at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts.
