WAUKESHA, Wis. (May 3, 2024) - Advancing to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship match for the fourth straight season, the North Central College men's tennis team defeated Wheaton College 5-0 in the semifinals on Friday at Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex.

Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Matthew Sengphommachanh claimed the first points for the Cardinals with an 8-3 win in the No. 2 position. Daniel Estanislao and Rafael Lessa won 8-4 at No. 3 before Wyatt Crowell and Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory at No. 1.

Lessa rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 5 fixture to earn the first singles win of the day. After a 7-5 first-set victory, Justin Penados secured to a 6-3 second set to clinch the 5-0 win for North Central. Vilarroig Martinez, Sengphommachanh, Crowell, and Estanislao all won a set vs their Thunder opponent before the clinch.

The Cardinals take on the winner of No. 2 Carthage College and No. 3 Augustana College Saturday in the CCIW Tournament Championship. The first serve is set for noon at Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex in Waukesha,
