2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Men's Team
June 25, 2024 - College Sports Communicators released its annual At-Large Academic All-District team on Tuesday as
Casey Aikman (men's wrestling), Tyler Donovan (men's volleyball), Zachary Lunde (men's golf), and Austin Scott (men's volleyball) represent North Central College with combined academic and athletics excellence.
To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. For the sport of men's volleyball, student-athletes must compete in 90% of the team's total sets or start at least 66% of the team's total matches. In wrestling and golf, nominees must be in the lineup for at least 70% of team-scoring events.
Aikman, an exercise science major, finished the 2023-2024 season with a 16-9 record at 174 pounds. He recorded five wins by major decision and five by technical fall. The sophomore also earned Academic All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin honors this winter.
Donovan, who graduated with cum laude honors in May with a degree in journalism, tallied 660 assists for the Cardinals with 72 kills, 23 blocks and 21 aces. He is second in program history with 1,809 assists, fifth with 139 blocks, and sixth in both digs (381) and service aces (51). He is a three-time Academic All-CCIW selection while earning American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-American honors in 2023.
Lunde, an entrepreneurship major, shot a 70 at the CCIW Championships this spring, matching the seventh-lowest score in school history. He also achieved a season-low 36-hole score of 145 at Midwest Region Classic Sept. 22-23, matching third-lowest total in program history. For the season, Lunde ranked third on the team with a 78.80 average over 20 rounds. He is a two-time Academic All-CCIW selection.
Scott, a graphic design major, tallied 150 kills, 104 digs, 23 blocks, 11 assists and eight aces over his 79 sets played for the Cardinals. He posted a season-high 12 kills on three separate occasions this past season. On Mar. 11, 2023, Scott totaled 19 kills vs Carthage College, the third most kills in a three-set match in school history. He is a two-time Academic All-CCIW selection.
Donovan advances to the Academic All-American ballot, with the winners announced on July 17 at 11 a.m. (CT)
