WAUKESHA, Wis. (Aug. 31, 2024) - Opening up the 2024 fall season under new head coach
Nathaniel Boatright, the North Central College women's tennis team won its 47th straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match in a 7-0 effort over Carroll University.
With the new NCAA Division III rules, the team that wins at least two doubles matches earns one team point for the match, with six points coming in singles play for a seven-point match total. Capturing the first doubles win of the day was Kayla McSweeney and Kate Herlihy at No. 3 with a 6-2 win. Freshmen Priya Harris and Ainara Casado Cedillo teamed up to claim the second Cardinal victory at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, securing a team point for North Central.
Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne mounted a comeback 7-5 win at the top spot.
In singles play, the Cardinals cruised as Penados, Payne, Harris, Herlihy, Casado and Liveta Ezerskis each won in straight sets.
The Cardinals continue CCIW play Wednesday, Sept. 11 by heading back up to Wisconsin, this time facing Carthage College at 3:30 p.m. at Smeds Tennis Center.
