Women's Tennis Dominates Singles Play in 5-2 Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. (Sept. 11, 2024) - Moving to 2-0 on the 2024-25 season, the North Central College women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches to take a 5-2 victory on Wednesday night against Carthage College.

Abigail Penados and Kensington Payne claimed a 6-1 victory over the Firebirds' No. 1 doubles team, but Carthage took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn a point heading into singles play.

Payne captured a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 before Priya Harris earned a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot, giving the Cardinals a 2-1 lead. Kate Herlihy, Liveta Ezerskis and Penados each picked up wins in their respective positions to secure the 5-2 victory for North Central, who won their 48th straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match.

The Cardinals continue road CCIW play as they face Augustana College Sunday, Sept. 22. The first serve is set for 1 p.m. at the new Lincoln Park Tennis Courts in Rock Island.
