BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2024)- Making the trip to Beaver Falls for the Beaver County Tri Cup, the North Central College women's triathlon team came in fourth place across all divisions and first among Division 3.  

The event, which was open to Division 1, 2, and 3 schools, was designed as a sprint triathlon, which includes a half-mile swim, a 12.4-mile bike section, and finishing with a 3.1-mile run.  

The Cardinals were able to capture fourth place as TCU placed first, the host, Duquesne University, in second, and Lenoir Rhyne in third.

Reigning individual national champion Hailey Poe was the Cardinals' top finisher, placing 16th overall, clocking in a time of one hour, six minutes, and 50.96 seconds. Charlotte Kumler (1:07:36.09) was able to capture 20th place as the second Cardinal to cross the finish line.  

Bethany Smeed became the third Cardinals' finisher, placing 23rd overall with a time of 1:08:34.04. Keeley Mick (1:10:48.03) became the fourth Cardinal to finish the race 28th overall. Scarlett Schuth (1:12:56.56) would follow fifth for the Cardinals, 34th overall.  

The Cardinals will be back in action Sept. 21, making a trip to Clinton, Ill., for the Prairie Tri Cup hosted by Millikin University. Click HERE for the full triathlon schedule.
