Sept. 17, 2024 – The North Central College women's soccer team earned a sweep of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Weekly Student-Athlete Awards while ranking twentieth in the United Soccer Coaches' (USC) national rankings and second in the Region VIII.
In the USC national rankings, the Cardinals (6-2) moved into the top 25 teams with a 20th overall selection. The Region VIII saw the team being selected second ahead of Calvin University (2-2-1) and just behind the undefeated Washington University (6-0). In the NCAA North Central maintains first in total points (76), first in assists (24), and third in goals (26).
Elle Sutter earned her eighth career Student-Athlete award for offense after helping the team go undefeated in the North Central Invitational. She tallied four goals to knock in her tenth of the season while recording four assists through three victories against Calvin University (4-2), Greenville University (3-0), and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (3-2). This ranks her third in the NCAA for total goals (10), tied for first with assists (7), and first in total points (27).
On the defensive side of the awards, first-year goalkeeper,
Olivia Mattison anchored the defense with a career-high nine saves to hold off a determined UW-Eau Claire 3-2. Throughout the week she totaled seventeen saves to help the team go undefeated at home.
