Sept. 20, 2024 – The North Central College women's soccer team faced Hanover College for the first time in program history routing them in a 6-2 fashion, extending to a five-game win streak at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

North Central (7-2) did not wait long to pour on the pressure as Kassandra Salviola broke free to pass to Sarah Andrey to ease to a 1-0 lead fifty-seven seconds in. The Cardinal offense was not finished yet with Jordan Lange finding an open Elle Sutter twice seven minutes later to ramp up to 3-0.

Hanover (4-2) finally found some relief after a penalty kick was awarded to Beth Cook in the 12th minute. Cook snuck the shot past a diving effort from Olivia Mattison to put the Panthers on the board. As the offenses continued to trade shots over the next fifteen minutes, Brooke Nelson found a gap to help Madison DeVriendt score for a 4-1 lead.

The Panthers struggled to find meaningful offensive possessions as the final fifteen minutes saw the Cardinals shoot an unanswered four times.

Coming out of halftime, North Central continued hammering the Hanover defense as they committed a costly foul in the 47th minute, giving Andrey a penalty kick goal for her second score of the match. The Panthers failed to respond over the next ten minutes when another gap revealed itself allowing Lange to assist Gabriella Mattio to her first career goal.

In the final forty-two minutes, the Cardinal defense clamped down on the Panther offense not allowing a goal until just three minutes remained. A determined Bri Matis scored off a deflection from Callen Johnson to seal the game at 6-2.

In total, North Central outshot Hanover twenty-eight to nine. Mattison clocked in all ninety minutes for six saves.

North Central looks to continue its perfect home record hosting the eighth-best team in the country, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Access the full schedule HERE.
