BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (Jan. 24, 2025) – The North Central College women's track and field team traveled to their first road meet in the new year, soaring to two event victories at Olivet Nazarene University.
The Cardinals found success through the victories of
Faith Ladin and
Gwen Berenyi. In Ladin's victory in the high jump (1.63 meters, 5 feet 4.25 inches), she reached the fourth-best measure in the program's top ten while also jumping into the top 20 nationally.
Pola Kubrak backed her up in second (1.50m, 4' 11"),
Anna Cotter third (1.50m, 4' 11"), and
Paulina Stachura fifth (1.45m 4' 9"). Berenyi's victory came in the pole vault where she measured in at 3.60m (11' 9.75") with
Natalie Johnson (3.30m, 10' 10"),
Ariana Rivera (3.00m 9' 10"), Lily Wintergerst (2.85m, 9' 4.25"), and
Jillian Beneke (2.85m, 9' 4.25") following close behind. Wintergest also marked a fourth place measure in the long jump (4.88m, 16' 0.25").
Also representing North Central in field events was
Kim Olwoch taking a second place mark (11.19m, 36' 8.50") in the shot put with
Amanda Melton taking third (10.80m 35' 5.25"), and
Robin Lee snatching fourth (10.44m, 34' 3"). The triple jump saw
Leona Agyemang soar to second with a measure of 10.55m (34' 7.50") with
Zainab Maiyaki following in fourth (10.12m, 33' 2.50"). In weight throws
Gabrielle Harding led the Cardinal effort in second (15.06m, 49' 5") while
Arianna Teichman (13.19m, 43' 3.25"), and Olwoch (12.53m, 41' 1.50") measured just behind.
For running events, the 60-meter hurdle had
Isabella Valentin clocking in at second place in 9.75 seconds with
Anna Cotter faltering behind in 9.90 seconds. Cotter also marked the fastest Cardinal effort in the 600-meter run with a fourth place finish of 1:54.95 while
Betty Tsoutsas followed in fifth (1:55.05). In the 400-meter dash,
Svetlana Uvakova snatched third (1:05.92) with
Zoe Ulaszek following close behind (1:06.45).
Olivia Durbin managed a third place finish (3:10.60) in the 1000-meter run for the Cardinals.
