Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lange Leads North Central to 1-0 Win Over Elmhurst

Oct. 11, 2025 – The North Central College women's soccer team secured its third straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, as Jordan Lange's goal secured a 1-0 victory over Elmhurst University inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The Cardinals move to 8-5 and 3-0 in conference action while Elmhurst falls to 9-4-2, and 1-3-1 in the CCIW.

Neither team managed to get a shot off through the first 12 minutes of play until Kassandra Salviola managed to get a boot on one that went high. Lange tried her luck in the 15th minute, narrowly missing the mark and ricocheting off the woodwork.

Lange found her opportunity in the 21st minute, with Madison DeVriendt sending in a cross from the left side. Lange took a shot on goal that the keeper couldn't reel in resulting in a slow-rolling goal for the Cardinals to go up 1-0.

In the 34th minute, Salviola would take the ball all the way up from the Cardinals defensive side, weaving through Elmhurst defenders for a shot that went high. With just over two minutes left to go in the half, the Cardinals were granted the first corner kick opportunity of the half but were unable to convert before the break.

North Central did not allow a single shot by the Bluejays in the opening half. Elmhurst was forced to defend multiple corner kick opportunities by the Cardinals with Salviola attempting to finish on a header but a Bluejays defender notched the team save to keep it within one.

DeVriendt continued to create shot opportunities for the Cardinals but Elmhurst defended well to prevent North Central from stretching the lead. North Central's defensive unit did not allow an Elmhurst shot until the 74th minute.

Gabriella Mattio took a shot off the crossbar in the 75th minute with Victoria Jaimes following it up with a shot that was saved by Elmhurst's Erin Fitzharris in the 77th minute. In the final minute and a half, Elmhurst had its first corner kick chance but was not able to execute on it.

North Central led with 16 shots to one in the 1-0 victory, and took 11 corner kicks to the Bluejays one. Elmhurst's Fitzharris totaled three saves while Lily Mattison was credited with her fifth shutout this season.

The Cardinals are back at home Wednesday, oct. 15 as they host Millikin University for another CCIW matchup. Game time is set for 7 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
