ROCK ISLAND, Ill. With over 350 runners toeing the startline of the Gold race, North Central had four of its runners place in the top-75. Junior BJ Sorg led the way for the Cardinals, as he came through the first 1,000m in 11th place and climbed into sixth  by the halfway point.

Fifth-year Jacob Kluckhohn was the Cardinals No. 2 runner for much of the race, crossing the 1k mark in 31st and sophomore Oscar Frontjes was not far behind in 37th. With the finish line closing in, Aidan Armstrong sat 73rd at the 5.6k checkpoint with the next closest Cardinals, Richard Klein and Jack Galminas, in 98th and 100th.

Grant Matthai of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse led the first half of the race before Isaac vanWestrienen of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater took over the lead in the final 2k and held on for the win. Sorg ran steady in sixth for much of the race, where he ultimately finished, with a time of 24:23.4.
