LISLE, Ill. (Oct. 5, 2025) - Remaining undefeated in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play, the North Central College women's tennis earned a 5-2 victory over Augustana College on Saturday morning.
North Central started doubles play with a strong performance from
Kensington Payne and
Abigail Penados, who earned a 6-1 win over Hannah Colbert and Colleen Larry. However, Augustana claimed the doubles point as
Liveta Ezerskis and
Kate Herlihy fell 3-6, and
Eva Zaskowski and
Sophia Drozd dropped a tight 6-7 (4-7) match.
The Cardinals bounced back in singles, with
Kate Herlihy evening the score at No. 4 in a 6-3, 6-2 win. Payne followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 before the Vikings answered with a point at No. 6 as
Sophia Drozd fell 2-6, 5-7. Penados then delivered at No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-1 victory, and Ezerskis clinched the match at No. 3 by defeating Anna-Maria Huebel, 7-5, 6-0 win. Zaskowski closed singles play with a 6-7, 7-6, 10-7 win at No. 5 to secure the 5-2 final.
North Central College women's tennis will now head to Chicago on Oct. 8 for a CCIW matchup against North Park University at the River Park Courts beginning at 2 p.m.
