Season Bests Help Swim and Dive Take Second At Beloit Double Dual

BELOIT, Wis. (Nov. 15, 2025)- Continuing its season in Beloit, Wis., the North Central College men's and women's swim and dive team competed in a double dual against Beloit College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Behind season bests from both the men's and women's teams, both sides came away with second place at the meet Saturday afternoon inside Robert G. Nicholls Natatorium. 

The men's team saw success in the 50-yard freestyle as Mihir Chandra won his second race of the year with a time of 22.90. Clark Wilson also competed in the event, where he placed fourth with a time of 24.99. Chandra and Wilson also took part in the 100-yard freestyle, where Chandra earned second place thanks to a season-best time of 50.20, a 0.28-second improvement. Wilson placed sixth in the event with a time of 56.67. Chandra's third event was the 100-yard breaststroke, where he turned in a third top-three finish, placing third. He finished the race in 1:04.29. Griffin Laurin earned a personal best in the 100-yard fly, where he placed fourth with a time of 59.94, improving it by 0.22 seconds. Laurin took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.8) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.56) to finish the day for the men. 


En route to the second-place finish, the women's team was led by Abigael Sheldon, who placed first in all of her events in the afternoon. Sheldon put up a season best in the 100-yard freestyle, improving her time by 1.26 seconds to 58.86. She followed it with a 200-yard individual medley time of 2:25.94 and a time of 1:16.19 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Celina McDaniel gave the Cardinals its fourth first-place finish on the women's side in the 100-yard fly event, finishing in 1:07.61, shedding 0.74 seconds. Amelia Minarik had both a seasonal and personal best at the meet. Shaving 5.92 seconds off of her time in the 500-yard freestyle, Minarik put up a season best in the event, finishing it in 6:26.65 for a fifth-place finish. Her personal best came in the 1000-yard freestyle, where she clocked in at 12:57.85, taking off 0.72 seconds, in a third-place effort. Victoria Robinson's season best in the 500-yard freestyle gave her a third-place finish, improving her time by 9.63 seconds for a total time of 6:06.67. Caitlin Suda added a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke event, finishing in 1:10.71, to cut off 0.87 seconds for a season best. Suda later accomplished a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:38.51, lowering her time by 2.05 seconds. Addison Bludgen achieved a season best in the 200-yard freestyle, successfully lowering her time by 0.07 seconds, for a final time of 2:14.01, which placed her fifth at the meet. In the 200-yard medley relay, led by Suda, Sheldon, McDaniel, and Bludgen, earned the second-best time at 2:03.34.


The men's scoring was neck and neck, with Beloit getting the edge over North Central by a score of 402.4 to 401.2. MSOE landed in third place with 388.6. The men had two season-best times at the meet. 


The women's team placed second with 356.4 points, trailing MSOE with 377.6, while Beloit placed third with 315.7. Each swimmer who competed at the meet on the women's team put up a season best, with six season bests and two personal bests. 


Swim and dive will take a three-week hiatus as they next compete at the Illinois College Tri-Meet on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Jacksonville, Ill.
