Dec. 18, 2025 - Collecting the most Associated Press All-Americans in Division III, the North Central College football team earned four first-team honors and three second-team selections. Senior
John Sullivan was named the AP Division III Defensive Player of the Year, while head coach
Brad Spencer was selected as the Division III Coach of the Year.
Sullivan, a three-time All-American, earned his first AP national honor after anchoring one of the top defensive units in the country. The defensive lineman was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Year, the D3football.com Region 5 Defensive Player of the Year and an American Football Coaches Association first-team All-American. He leads the team with 20 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback hurries, while totaling 64 tackles (34 solo), seven sacks and seven pass breakups.
Spencer, a three-time national Coach of the Year, earned AFCA Division III Coach of the Year honors earlier this week. He was named the D3football.com Coach of the Year last season. In his three seasons as head coach, he has guided the Cardinals to three Stagg Bowl appearances, including national championship victories in 2022 and 2024. He is 57-1 in his career.
Wide receiver Thomas Skokna, a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, leads the nation with 23 touchdown receptions. He has caught 75 passes for 1,156 yards, averaging 88.9 yards per game. Skokna was named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year and earned AFCA first-team All-American and D3football.com first-team all-region honors.
Offensive lineman Cortez Jones earned his first All-America honor with a first-team selection. A D3football.com first-team all-region honoree, Jones transitioned from defensive line to offensive line in the offseason and helped block for the nation's top-scoring offense, which averages 50.0 points per game.
Defensive back Rahmareon Roby earned first-team honors and was recognized nationally for the first time. He leads the team with four interceptions and nine pass breakups and scored two touchdowns on interception returns, including one in the postseason against UW-La Crosse.
Quarterback Garret Wilson earned second-team honors in his first season with the Cardinals. The D3football.com Region 5 Offensive Player of the Year leads all NCAA divisions with a 204.0 passing efficiency rating. He has thrown 39 touchdown passes, the fourth most in Division III, while completing 69.6 percent of his passes.
Offensive lineman Jerred Durian, a second-team selection, adds to his resume after earning first-team All-CCIW honors. Durian started every game at center and did not allow a sack. The Cardinals rank eighth nationally in rushing at 272.1 yards per game, have scored 35 rushing touchdowns and rank fifth in red-zone efficiency at 93.4 percent.
Kicker Aidan Ellison earned second-team honors, adding to an extensive postseason resume. He won the Fred Mitchell Award as the nation's top collegiate kicker across FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA, becoming just the second Division III player to do so. Ellison is 13-for-15 on field goals, missing only two attempts of 50 yards or longer. His 57-yard field goal is the longest in program history and the longest in Division III this season.
North Central will host John Carroll University on Saturday in the NCAA Division III semifinals at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
