NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Dec. 9, 2025)- For the second time this season, Ethan Spacht has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Wrestler of the Week after a championship run in the 133-pound weight bracket at the New Standard Corporation Invitational held Dec. 5-6 in York, Pa. The conference announced the winner Tuesday at 1 p.m., marking the third time this season the North Central College men's wrestling team has won the award.

The eighth-ranked 133-pound wrestler, according to the latest National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) poll, won his weight class, coming away with two top-five ranked wins. Catapulting himself to the quarterfinals, Spacht won his first two matches via pinfall, facing Kruz McCusker (Misericordia) and ending the match in 2:48. He followed it up with the second pinfall in the second-round match against Ryan O'Rourke (JWU), securing the victory in 1:15. The quarterfinal match between Spacht and Luke Reitter (TCNJ) lasted 4:10 before Spacht clinched the 17-0 technical fall to move onto the semifinal.

Waiting for Spacht in the semifinal was fourth-ranked Peyton Ellis (JWU), whom Spacht won handily in a 14-4 major decision to set up a finals match against the No. 3-ranked Garrett Totten (TCNJ) in a rematch from earlier in the season. This time Spacht got the upper hand on Totten, winning in a 4-3 decision as Spacht was awarded a penalty point with 20 seconds remaining in the match. Spacht finished the tournament with a 5-0 record and a weight class championship with two pinfalls, one technical fall, one major decision, and one decision.

Spacht's championship at the New Standard Corporation Invitational is his second championship this season, as he won the 133-pound weight class at the Pointer Open at the beginning of the season on Nov. 1. Spacht has a record of 17-1 this season with eight pinfalls.

The Cardinals return home to host the 61st Annual North Central College Invitational inside of the Wilde Res/Rec Center on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m.
