ADRIAN, Mich. (Feb. 22, 2025) - For the third consecutive season, the North Central College women's wrestling team won the Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Region V Tournament. Fifteen Cardinal wrestlers qualified for the National Tournament, including
Amani Jones (124),
Bella Mir (145), and
Traeh Haynes (207), who all won their respective weight classes.

North Central just edged out Grand Valley State University for first place with 173 points, just a point and a half more than the Lakers. Northern Michigan University (83.5) took third place, while Albion College and Aurora University tied for fourth place with 80.5 points.

Jones earned her ticket to her fourth National Tournament after picking up two wins by technical falls before pinning Albion College's Jayla Oberst in 39 seconds. Jones defeated Aspen Blasko from Grand Valley State University in the finals with a 10-4 decision. Mir punched her ticket to her first trip to Nationals with the Cardinal program by recording three wins by technical falls before earning a medical forfeit win over teammate
Sydney Perry. Meanwhile, Haynes spent the least time on the mat after receiving back-to-back byes but earned two dominating wins by pins.

After falling in semifinal matches,
Tiera Jimerson and
Brittyn Corbishley fought back in the consolations bracket to earn third-place finishes.
Brianne Graves (103) and
Emma Grimm (138) took fourth place and booked their trips to Nationals. With wins today, Petzinger has tallied 100 career victories.Â

Out of the Cardinals' 15 wrestlers, four punched their ticket to their very first NCWWC National Tournament, while two more earned their places for the first time with the Cardinals program.

The North Central wrestlers will work to polish off their skills before heading to the NCWWC National Tournament. Nationals will be a two-day event Mar. 7 and 8. The first session of bouts will start at 10 a.m. each day of Nationals.
