Feb. 22, 2025 – The North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving teams ended their season in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Saturday competing in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship.
On the men's side,
Mihir Chandra led the way earning a sixth place finish of 2:09.39 in the 200-yard breaststroke to enter into second in the program's top ten times. Chandra also clocked in at ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (21.53) and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.08).
Griffin Laurin earned the Cardinal's highest placement in the 200-yard butterfly with a 13th place finish of 2:05.41 while the 200-yard freestyle saw
Jack Newman take 15th (1:58.72) and
Clark Wilson take 16th (1:59.76).
Abigael Sheldon led the women's team with a 10th place finish of 2:19.85 in the 200-yard individual medley while also taking 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke (11:11.25) and 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.78). The backstrokes saw
Charlotte Kumler snag 12th in the 200-yard (2:19.05) and 13th in the 100-yard (1:04.54) swims.
Celina McDaniel represented North Central in 15th for butterflies in both the 100-yard (1:05.55) and 200-yard (2:34.50) swims. The 100-yard freestyle had
Sydney Sprayberry log a 15th place finish in 57.66 seconds.
Taylin Lemke and Wilson were honored with the CCIW RESPECT award for distinguishing themselves as an integral part of the team, institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
