Feb. 26, 2025 – In a staggering 16-8 victory over the University of Dubuque Spartans, the North Central College men's lacrosse team marked their first road victory and an overall 2-0 start to the 2025 season.

North Central got rolling early with a goal from Cole Westphal over three minutes into the first period. An embattled five minutes saw the Spartans get on the scoreboard with a goal from Andrew Beaudoin that sneaked past Aidan Murphy to knot up the score 1-1. With six minutes left in the first period, Dylan Andersen and Charlie Snyder led a two-goal run over the remainder to put the Cardinals on top 3-1 into the second period.

Keeping up the pressure, Westphal scored his second goal of the match with help from Luke Paris eight seconds in. Westphal went on to assist Snyder to his own second goal two minutes later to put the Cardinals ahead by four. With under ten minutes remaining before halftime, the Spartans went on a 4-2 scoring run to inch back within two with Ty Nagy's and Snyder's goals maintaining the lead.

The third period saw the Cardinals come out with a vengeance going on their own 5-1 scoring run between scores from Westphal, Snyder, Andersen, and Zachary McClure to cast a shadow over Dubuque's Brendan Yamanaka's lone goal. With the Spartans firmly eclipsed 12-6, they looked to battle back in the final 15 minutes of regulation as Aidan Culligan and Sam Todd fired off goals in the first six minutes but Andersen dashed those hopes scoring retaliatory goals each time. Dalton Lutz earned the final two insurance goals to seal the eclipsing 16-8 final score.

On offense, the team was led by Snyder's career-high five goals with Andersen backing him up with four. Defensively the team had a collective six caused turnovers with Alex Porter and Dominic Rohrer each claiming a pair. Murphy locked down the net for the second straight game netting a season-high fifteen saves.
