NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Feb. 6, 2025)- The North Central College men's wrestling team took on the Aurora University Spartans inside Gregory Arena Thursday and came away with a 41-5 rout to clinch the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Regular Season Championship.

The Cardinals (11-3, 7-0 CCIW) won nine of the 10 weight classes against the Spartans (10-5, 7-2 CCIW) on senior night with three pin falls.

Kicking off the night, second-ranked 125-pounder Christian Guzman remained perfect on the season with a 19-4 technical fall victory over Aurora's Carlos Munos-Flores. Guzman sits at 24-0 heading into the CCIW Championship.

Julian Valtierrez scored a pinfall over Tyler Evitts in the 133-pound bout. It took Valtierrez four minutes and 28 seconds for his first pin of the season as he moved to 10-4 overall.

Senior Bradley Rosen picked up his seventh tech fall of the season earning a score of 17-0 in the 141-pound match over Jake Penzato. Rosen sits at 13-2 this season. Kenny Siwicki kept the wins rolling for the Cards in the 149-pound match winning a 4-3 decision over Ashton Massaro. Siwicki is 15-6 this season.

Nolan Flores, a senior, took on Austin Abitua at 157-pounds and came away with a 15-10 decision, his seventh of the season. Flores moves to 15-10 overall. The 165-pound match is the only time the Spartans got on the board as Austin Martin defeated Jack Barracca via tech fall (21-6).

Alex Villar moved up to 174-pounds to take on Emanuel Diaz and made quick work of him pinning Diaz in one minute and 27 seconds. It was Villar's fastest pin of the season as he is now 17-5 overall with six pins on the season.

Payton Geigner won his 100th career match against Alton Mullinax in the 184-pound bout. Geigner won the match via major decision (12-4) as he moved to 23-3 this season. In a 197-pound battle, Elijah Brockie defeated Elijah Osit via pinfall. Brockie earned his fifth pin of the season in five minutes and 25 seconds to move to 17-10 this year.

The final battle of the night featured Robby Bates and Cam'ron Harper in the 285-pound bout. The match went to overtime as neither wrestler could get much offense. The extra time period wasn't enough and it went to the tiebreaker. In a 1-1 score, Bates was able to get a nearfall and an escape to seal it, 4-1 in the tiebreaker period.

The Cardinals extended their CCIW duals win streak to 57 with the win over Aurora and now move to the CCIW Championship as they look to win their 11th conference tournament championship.

The CCIW Championship, hosted by Millikin University, is set for Saturday, February 15 in the Griswold Center. Click HERE for the full schedule.
