Mar. 1, 2025 - Hosting Hope College for the first time in program history, the North Central College men's tennis team won all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over the Flying Dutchmen Saturday evening inside Naperville Tennis Club.

After falling behind in doubles play, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Matthew Sengphommachanh teamed up at the No. 1 position to earn a 6-4 win while Rafael Lessa and Philipp Wottgen secured a 6-4 victory at No. 2 to put the Cardinals up 1-0 heading into singles play.

Ignacio Hernandez Ruiz cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles before Sengphommachanh rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 fixture. Clinching the match win was Ros with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4. Vilarroig Martinez and Lessa each earned tiebreak wins for North Central with Wottgen winning in straight sets to secure the sweep.

The Cardinals head to Orlando, Fla. for their annual spring break tournament. The four-match trip begins with an 11 a.m. (ET) contest against Oglethorpe University at the USTA National Campus Sunday, Mar. 9.
