NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 11, 2025) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team was dealt their first loss of the 2025 campaign in 19-4 fashion on the road by Muhlenberg College Tuesday afternoon.
Entering the first period, Muhlenberg (4-3) was the first to score as Luke Schwartzberg broke off under two minutes in, but
Charlie Snyder was quick to retaliate on the following faceoff win from
Jack Senese and
Jason Smith to keep the score 1-1. The rest of the period would see North Central (4-1) land on the back foot of an unanswered 5-0 scoring run from the Mules over the final nine minutes to push the score to 6-1.
The Cardinals looked to flip the script, scoring the first goal of the period four minutes in as
Cole Westphal connected with
Ty Nagy to put the game back within four. The next ten minutes saw the defenses settle, but two goals from the Mules would sneak in to push the score up to 8-2 before halftime.
The third period of action saw Muhlenberg pull the lead further on a 4-2 scoring run as
Wyatt Hunt's goals couldn't keep the Cardinals within reach. The final fifteen minutes of regulation had the Mules go on an unanswered seven-goal run to mark a final score of 19-4.
North Central was out shot 66-16 times while the Mules kept the ball out of the Cardinals' hands with 48-20 ground balls.
Offensively, Hunt led the day with two goals and secured a ground ball, while Nagy and Snyder split the other two goals with a ground ball each.
Evan Watanabe led the team in caused turnovers with two.
Aidan Murphy secured the net with fifteen saves but allowed a season-high of 17 goals.
