GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Mar. 12, 2025) – After receiving their first loss of the season to Muhlenberg College in Nashville, Tennessee, the North Central College men's lacrosse team traveled overnight and rebounded with
Luke Paris leading the way in an 11-7 victory over DePauw University.
North Central's (5-1)
Wyatt Hunt got the offense rolling early with a score under six minutes in with help from Paris. The following faceoff saw the Cardinals attempt to push the lead, but a narrow save from Anthony Reinhardt led to DePauw (2-3) reversing their fortunes with a score two minutes later from Beckett Tasker. The last seven minutes had both defenses battling to keep the 1-1 score into the second period.
DePauw was not out yet, finding the first two scores of the period between Noah Sulpizio and Henry White to push ahead 3-1 over the first nine minutes. The Cardinals retaliated with a run of their own, going 3-1 with scores from Paris,
Charlie Snyder, and Hunt to rip back to neck and neck in the final four minutes before halftime.
Entering the third period, the Tigers would inch ahead with the first score coming within the first five minutes from Oscar Kokke. The Cardinals rattled off another two-goal scoring run from
Cole Westphal and Paris's second score of the game for a 6-5 lead.
Aidan Murphy continued to lock out the DePauw offense, tallying five saves to keep the lead into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
Looking to expand the lead, Paris scored his third goal of the game off a turnover by the Tigers just 20 seconds into the period. DePauw's defense continued to be rattled as Snyder, Paris, and Westphal fired another three goals to mark a dominating 10-5 lead with just over four minutes left. The Tigers attempted to rally, but two goals between White and Sulpizio proved not enough, with
Kyle Carollo scoring an insurance goal to seal the match at 11-7.
Paris led the offense with four goals and two assists to mark his season high. Hunt, Westphal, and Snyder each tallied a pair of goals to keep the game well out of reach. Defensively,
Alex Porter led the defense with two caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Murphy locked in his fifth win of the season through all 60 minutes of action, securing 16 saves to stymie the Tiger offense.
North Central goes on a ten-day break until they face the Albion College Britons at Calvin University's Zuidema Field. The match is set for March 22nd at 2:30 p.m. (ET)
