ORLANDO, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2025 ) - In a match that was postponed a day due to rain in the area, the North Central College men's tennis team earned the doubles point, but ultimately fell 5-2 to Franklin and Marshall College Tuesday night.
Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and
Matthew Sengphommachanh took care of business at No. 1 doubles with a 6-2 win over Zac Ashtiani/Gonzalo Gentou. The DIplomats won at No. 2, but the Cardinal tandem of
Ignacio Hernandez Ruiz and
Philipp Wottgen picked up a 6-2 win at No. 3 to give North Central a 1-0 lead heading into doubles play.
Sengphommachanh rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position, but Franklin and Marshall controlled the rest of the singles matches in straight sets to secure a 5-2 win over North Central.
The Cardinals finish their spring break trip Wednesday night by facing Ithaca College at 6:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
