Seven Cardinals Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

NWCA Scholar All-Americans

(Mar. 25, 2025)- The North Central College men's wrestling team has seven Cardinals named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American list for their success in the classroom and on the mat. 

To qualify for the NWCA Scholar All-American list, you must have at least a 3.2 GPA and meet one of the two following criteria: Place top eight in a regional tournament or wrestle at least 15 matches and have a winning percentage greater than 66%. 


Tyler Starr, a finance major, finished the season with a 25-14 record. He qualified for nationals for the first time in his career, placing third in the 149-pound weight class at the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Championship. 


Robby Bates, an exercise science major, finished the season with a 27-7 record. He became a four-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) champion before finishing as the runner-up in the region. At nationals, Bates became a three-time All-American at 285 pounds while knocking off the top-seeded wrestler in his bracket. 


Ethan Spacht, an elementary education major, finished the season with a 25-11 record. He tied for second most pins on the team in the 2024-25 season with nine. Spacht placed second at the CCIW Championship and won the 133-pound weight class at the Al Hanke Invitational. 


Kenny Siwicki, a political science major, finished with a 17-7 record this season. Siwicki competed in the Pointer Open, the Concordia Wisconsin Open, the Al Hanke Invitational and CCIW Championship. He earned a consolation first-place win in the Concordia Wisconsin Open and the Al Hanke Invitational at 149 pounds while placing second in the CCIW Championship.


Casey Aikman, an exercise science major, finished the season 27-8. He won the CCIW Championship for the first time in his career at 197 pounds and placed fourth at regionals. Aikman recorded 13 technical falls this season, which ranked second on the team. 


Raymond Cavey, a business economics major, finished 10-5 this season. He competed in the Concordia Wisconsin Open, the North Central Invitational and the Al Hanke Invitational. In the Al Hanke Invitational, Cavey placed fifth, defeating teammate Kayle Bearson at 141 pounds. 


Josh Robison, a finance major, finished 16-6 this season. Robison competed in the Pointer Open, Concordia Wisconsin Open and North Central Invitational. He placed third in the 141-pound weight class at the North Central Invitational and sixth at the Concordia Wisconsin Open.


North Central won the program's first regional championship and placed sixth at the NCAA Division III National Championship with four All-Americans in March.
