Mar. 8, 2025 – In their fourth stunning match of the 2025 season, the North Central College men's lacrosse team cruised to a 12-2 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Milwaukee (2-2) looked to start strong, winning the first faceoff to fire off a shot six seconds into the match from Graden Jansen with
Aidan Murphy narrowly fending it off. North Central (4-0) retaliated over the next ten minutes, getting out ahead and never looking back with
Evan Watanabe's first goal of the season and
Cole Westphal's score to bring it to 2-0. The final 60 seconds of the period saw the Cardinals fail to capitalize on a penalty situation to end the period.
North Central made a clear break throughout the second period, going on an unanswered run of 4-0 with scores from Westphal,
Luke Paris,
Dylan Andersen, and
Zachary McClure to take a dominating six nil lead. The second period also saw the Cardinals play a man down twice, but the defense stepped up to stifle the Raider offense into halftime.
Entering the third period, North Central opened up the first two minutes with scoring plays from Andersen for his second goal of the match and
Dalton Lutz. With the Raiders staring down an 8-0 score, they finally broke through with five minutes left as Dawson Smith capitalized on a man-up opportunity. Not wanting to give an inch, Snyder fired back 67 seconds later to push the gap back to eight scores. Snyder didn't back down, finding another scoring opportunity over a minute later with Andersen's help to mark his second goal of the game.
With only 15 minutes left in regulation, the Milwaukee offense failed to find a single scoring opportunity, allowing Westphal to find his third goal of the game three minutes in. The final five minutes saw
Wyatt Hunt score the final insurance goal, with the Raider's Smith sealing off the scoring on a man-up opportunity at 12-2.
In total, the Cardinal defense locked down the Raiders, only allowing two man-up goals while forcing a collective seven turnovers and 21 groundballs. Westphal led the offense with three goals and one assist, while Andersen followed with two goals and two assists.
Murphy tallied his fourth goalkeeper win of the season through 43 minutes, allowing one goal and saving twelve.
Seth Rosen closed out the match with 17 minutes, allowing one goal and saving eight.
