WAUKESHA, Wis. (April 12, 2025) – The North Central College men's lacrosse team faced its second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opponent, trouncing the Carroll University Pioneers 14-2 on the road.
Starting off the match, North Central (7-3, 1-1 CCIW) wouldn't get rolling until five minutes in when
Dylan Andersen broke free to score, starting a 4-0 run as
Wyatt Hunt and
Charlie Snyder combined for another three goals over the next four minutes. Carroll (5-6, 0-1 CCIW) retaliated with their lone goal of the half from Declan McMahon, narrowly passing
Aidan Murphy. Nagy broke free again two minutes later to improve the Cardinals to a 5-1 lead before the end of the period.
The second period saw North Central continue to lay it on as Hunt, Nagy, and Snyder combined for an unanswered 4-0 run with the Pioneers only firing four shots on goal. Each shot was saved by
Josiah Karnehm, who replaced Murphy in the second period to lock the score in at 9-1 into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, Carroll continued to struggle to keep the Cardinal offense away from the net as they would fire four unanswered shots in the first three minutes. 60 seconds later, Hunt sent his fourth goal past Jake Gehl to begin another 4-0 run. Hunt, Snyder, and
Jake Paris each scored before the end of the period to push the gap to 13-1.
Entering the final 15 minutes of regulation,
Zachary McClure sent another goal two minutes in with help from Andersen. After two straight periods, the Pioneers broke through with nine minutes left as Brady Conwell sent one past
Colton Porter, who replaced Karnehm in the fourth bringing the lead down to 12. The Cardinals would only allow seven shots from the Pioneer offense in the final nine minutes to seal the score at 14-2 for their first CCIW win.
Offensively, Hunt led the way, tying his career best of five goals while also tallying an assist, with Snyder and Nagy earning three goals apiece.
Jonas Gotter and
Cole Westphal each caused two turnovers to keep the Pioneers off balance. Murphy started the game in net, allowing one goal with four saves, Karnehm logged in for two periods, earning seven saves, with Porter coming in for the fourth period, allowing one goal with three saves.
