April 19, 2025 – The North Central College women's lacrosse team fell to their second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) loss Saturday evening, after the Carroll University Pioneers jumped ahead for a 17-6 final score.

North Central (8-5, 1-2 CCIW) fell early on the receiving end of a 3-0 scoring run by Carroll (10-3, 4-0 CCIW) within the first five minutes. The Pioneers continued to pepper the Cardinal defense, finding another three goals before the end of the period for an early 6-0 lead.

Entering the second period, North Central finally found a rhythm, with Abby MacKenzie breaking free in a free-position attempt, chipping the lead down to five. Five minutes later, Annelise Oster copied the effort with a free-position goal of her own to lock in a 6-2 score. The following draw control saw Abby Tubbs for Carroll break free within 20 seconds to push the lead back to five. A costly penalty allowed Elaina Phaneuf to break past Alyssa Rose in the net to push another six-goal lead with just under six minutes left. As the clock ticked under two minutes, Oster broke free for her second goal of the match with help from Anna Williamson, but the Pioneers would rattle off another two goals in the final 60 seconds to eclipse the effort.

Coming out of halftime with a 10-3 lead, Carroll kept the pressure on as they went on an unanswered five-goal run over the duration of the period to break away from North Central. With the clock continuing to run for the entirety of the final period, Lucy Culig and MacKenzie earned the first two goals which proved not enough to stop the clock as Tubbs and Elizabeth Wang for the Pioneers earned another two goals to mark the score at 17-5 with three minutes remaining. Oster scored the final goal of the match with 31 seconds remaining, sealing the score at 17-6.

Offensively, North Central was outshot 31-13 with Carroll firing an unrelenting 26 shots on goal. MacKenzie earned the majority of the team's draw controls with seven while Rose protected the net through 52 minutes, fending off nine scores.
