BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Apr. 24, 2025) – Taking on the host Millikin University in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament Quarterfinals, the North Central College women's tennis team controlled the match, winning 4-0 to advance to the semifinals.
Liveta Ezerskis and Meghan McSweeney earned a win by forfeit as the Big Blue did not field a No. 3 doubles team. Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett cruised to a 6-0 victory in just 14 minutes to claim the team point. Kensington Payne and Kate Herlihy were ahead 5-0 at No. 2 before the team point was clinched.
McSweeney and Anais Gerard picked up wins by forfeit at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Penados earned the first singles win with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top spot over Emily Markus. Payne, Ezerskis and Herlihy all won the first set of their matches before the clinch.
North Central will face the winner of No. 4 Carthage College and No. 5 Carroll University on Friday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club in the CCIW Tournament Semifinals.
