Brian Duvall did not allow a run in his start against College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opponent Carroll University on Saturday, earning him the CCIW Pitcher of the Week award.
Duvall threw 7.2 innings of scoreless baseball against the Pioneers, recording four strikeouts and only issuing one walk in the Cardinals' 4-0 win. His season earned-run average dropped a full point to 5.40. Duvall improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in CCIW play. North Central improved to 20-16 on the season and sits in third place in a tight CCIW race with an 11-5 record.
Duvall is the first Cardinal to be named a CCIW Athlete of the Week this season. Overall, he is the 23rd North Central hurler to earn a CCIW Pitcher of the Week award. He joins AJ Kutcher as the only active players to garner a weekly honor from the conference.
North Central heads into its final week of the regular season. The Cardinals host league-leading Carthage College on Wednesday night at Zimmerman Stadium. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. as North Central looks for the series sweep.
