Abby MacKenzie and
Annelise Oster were named to the All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) First Team, while
Tori Leonard and
Lucy Culig earned Second Team honors. These four selections tie the most honorees since the Cardinals joined the CCIW.
MacKenzie, now a two-time All-CCIW First Team selection, led the league in draw controls per game with 7.20, ranking 15th in Division III. In CCIW play, she scored 2.60 goals per game, the sixth most in the conference. She totaled 16 points and 31 shots in five league contests while picking up 10 ground balls.
Oster scored 21 goals in conference play, tying for the most among league competitors. She averaged 4.6 points per game in CCIW action. Her seven goals against Augustana College are tied for the most in a single game this season among CCIW opponents.
Leonard picked up 10 ground balls in CCIW play while causing three turnovers. She anchored a defense that allowed the fewest goals in CCIW play since the 2019 season.
Culig tallied 11 ground balls and eight draw controls in conference play. Offensively, she scored three goals with two assists over five games. Eight of her 10 shots were on goal, the second-best percentage among Cardinal players in league play.
The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and their community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is senior guard Ellie Gosselin.
North Central is playing in the CCIW Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Cardinals visit top-seeded Carroll University for a 7 p.m. start at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
