2024-25 College Team Academic Award Winners
Aug. 1, 2025 – The North Central College women's soccer team has been named a United Soccer Coaches Academic Team award recipient for the seventh consecutive season and 12th time in program history, the organization announced its selections Friday morning.
A total of 697 soccer teams across all NCAA divisions (283 men, 414 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year. North Central is one of 151 schools with both its men's and women's programs recognized. Wheaton College joins North Central as the only other College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin to earn the distinction for both programs.
The Cardinals, led by head coach
Andrew Gamarra, posted a 3.66 team GPA for the year. The program saw
Kassandra Salviola land United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region and All-American honors back in December. Additionally, six Cardinals were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees as Salviola,
Sarah Andrey,
Madelyn Camaioni,
Madison DeVriendt,
Yazmin Martinez, and
Elle Sutter earned the distinction for their efforts in the classroom and on the field. Sutter earned her second straight CSC Academic All-America nod and was named the CSC Women's Soccer Division III Academic All-American of the Year. Salviola also earned CSC Academic All-America honors in 2024.
In addition to their success in the classroom, the Cardinals were 16-5-1 during the 2024 season and finished 7-1 in conference play. Their season featured an 11-0 record while playing inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, a thrilling CCIW Championship title game win, and their second straight berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
North Central kicks off the 2025 season in Claremont, Calif., as the Cardinals face Pomona-Pitzer Friday, Aug. 29, at 4:30 p.m. PT, and the University of the Redlands Sunday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. PT in Redlands, Calif.
