NEW ORLEANS (Sept. 24, 2025) – After a strong team performance at the DIII Pre-Nationals race in Spartanburg, S.C., this past weekend, the North Central College men's cross country team maintains its No. 6 ranking in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week Two Coaches' Polls. The organization announced its regional rankings on Tuesday, Sept. 23 followed by its national rankings on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
The top-six teams of the USTFCCCA national rankings remained the same from the week one and week two rankings, with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse owning the top spot with eight first-place votes and 298 points. Wartburg claims the No. 2 spot in the national rankings with two first-place votes and 292 points, and leads the Midwest region as the only team above the Cardinals in regional rankings.
SUNY Geneseo holds its No. 3 spot in national rankings with 278 points followed by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in fourth (269) and Johns Hopkins University in fifth (260). North Central's 247 points held onto its No. 6 ranking. The remaining four teams in the top 10 experienced significant movement, with Tufts University jumping four spots to seventh, Williams College climbing one spot to eighth, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps moving up eight spots to ninth, and RPI falling two spots to tenth.
The Cardinals are coming off a first-place team finish at the DIII Pre-Nationals, totaling 59 points for the win, as they got a glimpse of the 2025 National Championship course at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
BJ Sorg and
Oscar Frontjes led the field, finishing first and second, respectively.
North Central is set to race the Lucian Rosa Invitational in Kenosha, Wis. hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The men's championship race is set for 10:15 a.m. at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course followed by an open race at 11:45 a.m.
