NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 22, 2026) – For the first time in 18 years, a member of the North Central College women's tennis program has won consecutive College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week honors. Berkley Klarich, who won the award last week, went 4-0 in this week's slate to join Christine Heyd as the only two players to accomplish the feat in Cardinal history.
Klarich's perfect week began against North Park University on October 14. In doubles play, Klarich and her playing partner Kate Herlihy earned the victory from the top of the doubles lineup 6-3.
Klarich carried that momentum into her singles contest in the number one slot. Klarich dropped a tight 7-6 first set before bouncing back with a 7-5 second-set win to force a super set. She won 5 of the first seven points in the super set, going on to win it 10-7.
Her dominance continued in Monday's dual against Elmhurst University. In doubles, Klarich and Herlihy brought home a 6-1 win from the number one spot, and in singles, Klarich cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over her opponent, also from the top of the lineup.
Klarich finished the conference season 5-3 in singles play and 4-4 in doubles play, playing the top talent each team in the CCIW has to offer.
Heyd's lone two CCIW Player of the Week honors were her aforementioned back-to-back wins on September 10 and 17 in 2008.
This is the third weekly award for the Cardinals this Fall, and the third in four weeks. The week four award was won by Herlihy, while Klarich brought home the week six and seven awards.
North Central is back in action after winter break. The schedule page will reflect the second half of the season schedule once it has been finalized.
