Waukesha, Wis. (Oct. 3) – Opening their season at Carroll University, the North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving team fell to the Pioneers at the Van Male Natatorium by a score of 71-102.
Men's swimmer, Griffin Lauren had a fantastic opener placing first in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.53) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.69).
On the women's side,
Kate Koral had the highest score of all female competitors on Saturday, placing first in 100-yard backstroke (1:03.87) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.41).
Addison Bludgen placed second in three events. The 200-yard freestyle (2:17.10), the 50-yard freestyle (29.25), and the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.01).
Leah Salva placed third in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke with times of 2:34.23 and 1:08.30 respectively.
Amelia Minarik placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:31.33. She also placed fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:00.04) and fifth in the 100-yard fly (1:15.25).
Ayla Pequette finished first in her lone event, the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 29.10.
Celina McDaniel had two top-three finishes on Saturday placing third in both the 100-yard fly (1:14.46), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.43).
North Central also took first in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:03.83. Bludgen led off strong with a time of 32.86 and Koral followed with a 33.06. Salva (30.03) and Pequette (27.88) finished the relay strong to secure the win in the event.
Cardinal swim and dive will be back in action next for the Augustana Triangular at the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium on November 5
th. Before then, the Cardinals will be hosting an Alumni Meet Saturday, October 10
th.
