Feb. 13, 2026 – The North Central College women's track and field team had an exceptional night at Al B. Carius Track inside the Wilde Res/Rec Center as a slew of Cardinals turned in personal best efforts and new marks in the program history books at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships. Freshman
Dylan Moeller continues to impress as she not only broke the freshman record in the 1,000-meter, she also set a new varsity record in the event and anchored the distance-medley relay that broke another freshman record.
The Cardinal relays dominated the competition Friday night as the DMR squad of
Molly Sheridan,
Kate Schmidthuber,
Giselle Alcala, and Moeller opened the day with the event win, setting a new freshman record of 12:34.36 that had previously stood since 2004. The 4-by-400m relay quartet of
Alivia Henkel,
Cali Minkie,
Ciré Smith, and
Zara Uvakova cracked the program's all-time list at No. 9 with a winning time of 3:58.73.
Moeller came back later in the night to win the 1,000m run while breaking both the freshman and varsity records in the event. Moeller's time of 3:01.37 is the fastest time by a freshman since 2020 and is the fastest all-time since 2019. Smith turned in a runner-up finish in 3:09.10 followed by
Segi Smith-Pariola in third with a personal best time of 3:11.37. Alcala finished fourth in 3:24.43 with
Kamryn Neer in fifth with a personal best time of 3:26.08.
Gwen Berenyi claimed the win in the pole vault with a season best clearance of 3.83m (12'6.75") a mark that moves her up to 13th in Division III this season and takes the top spot in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) performance list.
Caroline Kuttner finished ninth in the event with a 3.23m (10'7") clearance.
Minkie turned in a runner-up finish in the 400m dash after clocking a season best time of 58.07 seconds, a time that ranks 29th in Division III this season and sits eighth in program history. Henkel turned in back-to-back weeks of 400m personal bests after clocking a 59.53 last weekend, she crossed in 58.78 seconds to finish third in the field of 38 and ranks 11th in program history.
The 5,000-meter run featured a pair of top-10 finishes with
Lily Anderson clocking a season best of 18:53.18 to finish fifth while
Yarecci Salmeron produced a personal best of 19:12.55 to close out a seventh-place finish. In the 3,000m run,
Linda Luppi turned in a time of 11:35.83 to finish ninth.
In the mile run, a trio of Cardinals finished in the top-six, with
Marissa Magana leading the way for North Central in third with a season best time of 5:25.04.
Olivia Durbin was just behind in fourth in a time of 5:27.16 while
Brianna Ruiz was sixth in 5:28.74, a new personal best for the sophomore. Durbin also posted a 10th place finish in the 800m in a time of 2:32.82.
After tying her season best time of 9.34 seconds in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles,
Isabella Valentin earned her spot in the final where she lowered her personal best to 9.32 seconds to finish sixth in the event.
Julia Kelly continues to improve her mark in the long jump, turning in a new personal best of 5.49m (18'0.25") to finish fourth overall. The effort ties for seventh in program history and fifth in the CCIW.
Lucia Sanchez Scriven notched a season best of 5.33m (17'5.75") to finish eighth in the field.
Kelly's momentum only continued into the triple jump where she leapt an 11.27m (36'11.75") mark to finish fourth in the field. She moves up to 30th in Division III this season, ranks fourth in the CCIW and sits tied for sixth in Cardinal program history.
Elianna Keyes notched a season best of 11.05m (36'3") finish sixth while
Abranet Layne's 10.76m (35'3.75") was good for 10th.
In a strong weight throw field, freshman
Yakyra Wilder posted a third-place finish with a 15.23m (49'11.75") mark.
Isi Aroko notched a personal best of 12.46m (40'10.50") to round out the event's top-10.
A season best from
Mackenzie Conklin in the shot put earned her a seventh-place finish after throwing an 11.03m (36'2.25") mark.
Karley Galowitz produced a personal best of 10.79m (35'4.75") to place eighth in the 29-person field.
Pola Kubrak landed a tie for ninth-place in the high jump invitational section with a 1.48m (4'10.25") clearance while
Hannah Galletti and
Kendal Franklin both cleared 1.38m (4'6.25") to finish eighth and ninth, respectively in the open high jump.
The Cardinals are back at the Al B. Carius Track next Friday, Feb. 20 as they host the F. Lee Slick Invitational.
