Berenyi’s Pole Vault Win Leads Cardinals at Keck DIII Select

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Feb. 7, 2026) - The North Central College women's track and field team took a trip to Bloomington, Ill. on Saturday, Feb. 7 to get a feel for this year's conference championship site as the Cardinals came away with 20 top-10 finishes and an event win from Gwen Berenyi in the pole vault.

Berenyi turned in her second pole vault win of the season with a season best clearance of 3.75 meters (12'3.50"), a mark that ranks tied for 17th in Division III this season. 

Two Cardinals advanced to the 60-meter hurdle finals as Charlotte Rossi clocked a time of 9.83 seconds in prelims and Julia Kelly posted a 10.06 to earn a spot into the final. Kelly came back with a 9.78 second effort to finish fifth overall in the field with Rossi clocking a 9.90 to place seventh.

Racing in her first meet this season, Alivia Henkel turned in a personal best of 59.53 seconds in the 400m dash to claim a fourth-place finish. Kate Schmidthuber finished sixth in the event with a season best time of 60 seconds flat. In the 200m, Cali Minkie clocked a 26.13 season best to finish fourth in the field of 52 runners. 

Dylan Moeller set a personal best in the 800m for the second straight week, lowering her best by nearly five seconds to 2:17.75, a mark that ranks ninth in Cardinal history. Moller finished fourth while Ciré Smith's time of 2:20.31 was good for seventh. 

North Central's triple jump squad turned in three top-10 finishes. Kelly hit two personal-best jumps on the day, first with an 11.12m (36'5.75") mark in the prelims before bettering that mark to 11.15m (36'7") on her sixth and final jump of the day. The jump earned her seventh in the field and ranks ninth in program history. Leona Agyemang posted a personal best of 11.12m (36'5.75") on her final jump of the day to finish eighth while Elianna Keyes placed 10th with a 10.86m (35'7.75") jump. 

In the long jump, Lucia Sanchez Scriven notched a fourth-place finish with a 5.31m (17'5.25") leap, her furthest jump this season. Katelyn McCann placed sixth with a 5.26m (17'3.25") jump.

Pola Kubrak placed eighth in the high jump with a 1.50m (4'11") clearance. 

Yakyra Wilder's 14.45m (47'5") mark in the weight throw invitational earned her a fifth place finish. Aryana Smith posted a personal best of 12.55m (41'2.25") in the open weight throw to finish sixth while Karley Galowitz also had a personal best of 11.50m (37'8.75") which was good for 10th in the field. 

In the final event of the night, the 4-by-400m relay quartet of Schmidthuber, Minkie, Smith, and Zara Uvakova placed third overall with a time of 4:03.00. 

After three straight meets on the road, the Cardinals are set to return to Al B. Carius track inside the Wilde Res/Rec Center on Friday, Feb. 13 as they host the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.
