ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Feb. 7-8, 2026) - Behind individual wins from Madison Avila and Mikayla Garcia, the North Central College women's wrestling team claimed the Quad Cities D3 National Invite title on Sunday, edging Wartburg College in a dramatic finish. All 15 Cardinals advanced to day two of competition as North Central amassed 188.5 points to secure its seventh tournament win of the regular season.

After the first day of competition, the Cardinals sat second in team standings with 106 points, just three points behind Wartburg College. By the end of day two, the Cardinals had accrued a point total of 188.5 to finish 2.5 points ahead of Wartburg's 185. Simpson College finished third as a team with 158 points in the 31-team field.

Seventh-ranked Avila made her way to the 103 pound final after notching two straight wins by technical fall to start the weekend. She advanced to the semifinal after pinning Kyndall Jeanes (Schreiner) in the quarterfinal (1:44) and added another technical fall in the semis against Alexis Winecke (Stevens Point) to earn her spot in the first place match. Avila managed to defeat fifth-ranked Chloe Sheffield of Wartburg in a 9-4 decision to win the 103 bracket. It marks Avila's second upset win over Sheffield in 10 days.

In the 117 pound weight class, a pair of Cardinals met in the final to finish first and second. Garcia picked up back-to-back wins by pin before defeating Margarey Gillmore (Stevens Point) in a 12-2 technical fall in the quarterfinal. She then scored a late pin at the 5:59 mark over Carleigh Czerneski (Adrian) to advance to the final. Riley Rayome received a bye in the first round before taking wins by pin and tech fall to advance to the semifinal round. She turned in another tech fall in the semifinal to meet Garcia in the final. Garcia ultimately took first via forfeit with Rayome finishing second.

Jax Realin posted a second place finish at 131 pounds after recording a 4-1 record on the day. Realin opened the weekend with two straight pins before claiming a 11-0 technical fall win over Kaylee Smith (Manchester Univ.) in the quarterfinal. She went on to pin Mackenzie Childers (Wartburg) in 3:49 in the semifinal before having to forfeit the final match to Jania Dunigan (Schreiner).

At 160 pounds, Elizabeth Rosenstiel utilized four straight technical falls without allowing a single point scored to earn her spot in the final. She ultimately finished second in the weight class after falling to sixth-ranked Keeley Kehrli of Simpson in a 5-0 decision.

Dasia Yearby took second at 207 pounds following a 2-1 performance over the weekend. After receiving an opening round bye, Yearby claimed an 11-0 technical fall in the quarterfinal before matching that effort in the semis against Illinois Wesleyan's Angel Hill. A tough battle in the finals saw fourth-ranked Rewa Chababo (Wartburg) take first in a narrow 10-9 decision.

Bri Graves (103), Natalie Klavetter (145), and Tirza TwoTeeth each placed third in their respective weight classes. Graves recorded a 5-1 record on the weekend while Klavetter went 6-1 and TwoTeeth went 4-1. Taylor Miess finished fourth at 138 pounds.

The Cardinals now turn their attention to postseason action as they are set to travel to Tiffin, Ohio on Feb. 21 for the NCAA regional Championships hosted by Tiffin University.
