Chi Alpha Sigma is the first and only nonprofit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. Founded in 1996 by then-DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis, the organization connects outstanding student-athletes through a lifelong fraternal network that celebrates both educational and athletic achievement. Eligibility requirements include earning a varsity letter, achieving junior academic standing or higher after the fifth full-time semester, and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or above.
North Central's chapter, one of 22 in the state of Illinois, was chartered in 2007. This year, 53 graduating seniors received ceremonial black and gold cords to wear at Commencement on May 3, while 66 juniors were inducted into the society.
There are currently 553 active Chi Alpha Sigma chapters nationwide. For more information, visit

Since last year's Honors Day, North Central student-athletes have earned 95 individual Scholar All-America selections from their respective sport organizations, while Cardinal teams have combined for 12 Scholar Team Awards.
