Women’s Track Climbs Record Books at Old Fashioned Track Meet

WHEATON, Ill. (April 22, 2026) - The North Central College women's track and field team posted five event wins at the Old Fashioned Track Meet hosted by Elmhurst University at Wheaton College's McCully Stadium Wednesday evening while multiple Cardinals moved up in the program's record books. 

Dylan Moeller won the 1,500m run with a time of 4:50.81 while Brianna Ruiz ran a personal best of 4:56.56 to finish third. Lily Anderson also claimed an event win on the evening with her time of 18:53.66 in the 5,000m run, nearly an entire minute faster than the next competitor. 

Gwen Berenyi continued her reign in the pole vault with another event win on a 4.00m (13'1.50") clearance. Caroline Kuttner bettered her personal best to 3.70m (12'1.50") a mark that bumps her up to ninth in program history and 24th in Division III this season.

The Cardinal throwers swept the top-three spots in the javelin throw led by Isabella Valentin with a top mark of 33.34m (109'4") followed by Jillian Beneke in second (31.40m, 103') and Kaylie Conklin in third (30.69m, 100'8"). Mackenzie Conklin finished as the runner-up in the discus throw (31.73m, 104'01") while Yakyra Wilder placed third (30.59m, 100'4"). M. Conklin and Wilder replicated those place finishes in the shot put with M. Conklin throwing an 11.32m (37'1.75") followed by Wilder's 10.99m (36'0.75").

The Cardinals also brought back an event win in the 4-by-400m relay as Ellie Logsdon, Kate Schmidthuber, Samantha Kelly, and Charlotte Rossi clocked a 4:14.85. 

Minkie clocked a 25.43-second personal best in the 200m to finish third in the field. Her time moves her up to ninth in the program's all-time list. She also turned in a runner-up finish in the 400m with a time of 58.57 seconds. 

K. Conkin posted a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles with a 1:09.61 finishing time and Alivia Henkel finished third in the 100m dash with a personal best of 12.50 seconds. 

Earning third-place finishes in the field were Hannah Galletti in the high jump with a 1.48m (4'10.25") mark and Lucia Sanchez Scriven in the long jump on a 5.23m (17'2") jump.

North Central will send a small group, inlcuding the women's hammer throwers, down the road to Lisle, Ill. this weekend for the Cougar Invite hosted by Concordia University-Chicago at Benedictine University's track.
