JOLIET & ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 8-9, 2026) - North Central College women's track and field split its team to conquer a trio of last chance qualifier meets this weekend, with a group heading up to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open, while another group competed at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite and the horizontal jumps squad went down to Augustana College's Penultimate Qualifier.

Alivia Henkel showed her prowess in the 400-meter hurdles yet again, clocking in at 1:00.25 to finish third at the Uncaged Eagle Open. The sophomore's time set a new school record that had stood since 2013 and moves her up to seventh in Division III this season.

Henkel also joined Kate Schmidthuber, Cire Smith, and Cali Minkie for the 4-by-400m relay, where they won the event in La Crosse with the seventh-fastest time in program history at 3:50.59.

Also producing a new time in program history was freshman Dylan Moeller in the 3,000m steeplechase at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. Moeller shaved four more seconds off her personal best time in the event, clocking in at 10:59.52 to finish seventh in the field. She now sits third in program history in the event.

Senior Gwen Berenyi won the pole vault at St. Francis with a 3.83m (12'6.75") and Caroline Kuttner notched a third-place finish with a 3.53m (11'7") clearance.

Down in Rock Island, Ill. the Cardinals had four competing in the horizontal jumps. Lucia Sanches Scriven posted a 5.28m (17'4") jump in the long jump as she finished fourth in the field. Julia Kelly led the way for North Central in the triple jump with a third-place finish on an 11.01m (36'1.50") jump. Eliana Keyes was fourth with a 10.96m (35'11.50") leap and Aaliyah Rodriguez was sixth (10.66m, 34'11.74").

North Central will have one more week of last chance qualifier meets, with another trip to Rock Island in the books for May 13-14 for the Augsutana Midwest Twilight Qualifier.
