Cardinals Race to Victory as Estabrook Claims First Overall

PERU, Ind. (Sept. 12, 2026) - In their first race of the year, the North Central College women's triathlon team came out with energy, with all 10 members finishing in the top 15 in the Lake Mississinewa Collegiate Cup and freshman Whitney Estabrook taking first overall in her collegiate debut to help the Cardinals clinch first place. 

The event, hosted by the University of Indianapolis at Miami State Recreation Area, featured NCAA Division III competitors in a sprint-distance format consisting of a 750-yard swim, 12.5-mile bike and 3.1-mile run. 

North Central finished first among the four NCAA programs in attendance, earning 137 points. The University of Indianapolis placed second with 114 points, followed by Trine University with 91 points and Chicago State University with 34 points.

Estabrook led the Cardinals and the field with an overall time of 1:07:01 in her first race as a Cardinal. She posted split times of 12:31 in the swim, 33:17 on the bike and 20:21 in the run. 

Keeley Mick came out of the water first for the Cardinals and finished third overall in 1:07:27, crossing the line as North Central's second finisher. Mick posted splits of 12:21 in the swim, 33:32 on the bike and 20:45 in the run.

Freshman Ava Talabock followed closely behind Mick, finishing fourth overall and third for the Cardinals in 1:08:02. Talabock recorded splits of 12:46 in the swim, 33:09 on the bike and 21:21 in the run.

The Cardinals continued to pile up top finishes as Jordan Haupt placed seventh overall in 1:11:47, followed by Olivia Durbin in eighth at 1:11:50. Emily Coonce was the next Cardinal to finish, placing ninth overall in 1:11:53. 

Norah Dorrance was the Cardinals' final scorer, placing 11th overall in 1:13:47. Sydney Sprayberry followed in 12th at 1:14:16, while Taylor Robinson came in 13th at 1:14:20. Lucy Oetker rounded out the Cardinal lineup, placing 15th overall in 1:16:08. 

The Cardinals will look to carry their momentum into the Beaver County Tri Cup on Sept. 19. As the defending 2025 Tri Cup Division III champions, North Central will return to competition with the race scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. ET.
