About SAAC:
“The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general. The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division’s nationwide partnership with Special Olympics.”
Mission Statement:
Objectives:
- To generate a student-athlete voice within the North Central College Athletic Department and campus community.
- To discuss issues, recommend action and provide opportunities to enhance the student-athlete experience at North Central College.
- To solicit student-athlete response to proposed NCAA and/or CCIW legislation.
- To organize multiple service opportunities throughout the year with the intent of promoting a positive image in the surrounding community.
Membership:
General Member Composition: The membership of SAAC will consist of two members from each varsity
athletic team, athletic training, cheerleading, dance, pep band and color guard. On May 1st of each
academic year, head coaches will be asked to select and recommend two members from their respective
athletic team/organization to represent their membership in SAAC.
Consistency of membership is strongly encouraged, and members should only be replaced upon graduation, exhausted athletic eligibility or in the case of failure to exhibit behavior consistent with representation of their team or SAAC.
Members are expected to attend all meetings and events hosted by SAAC. Exceptions will be made in the case of schedule conflicts with respective athletic teams, or in the case of emergency. Prior notice should be given in either case. After two unexcused misses, a warning will be given, resulting in the reevaluation of membership. After a third unexcused miss, membership will be revoked and a replacement member will be chosen.
Officers: The Executive Board of SAAC will consist of one male Co-President, one female Co-President,
One secretary and one treasurer.
The Co-Presidents will assist the SAAC advisors in presiding over all meetings and events, and will work
directly with the advisors in developing meeting agendas and communicating with the membership. These
individuals will also serve as the CCIW Representatives at CCIW events and conference calls.
The Secretary will take minutes at all meetings and provide a copy to SAAC advisors.
The Treasurer will assist the Advisors in organizing finances for the group, including fundraising and
purchasing.
